Summary

Stress is a natural part of life that can be caused by challenging situations or tasks, whether at home, at school, work or in life in general. Stress can be experienced physically as well as mentally, and often occurs when we feel that the many demands we are encountering exceed the resources available. For healthcare providers, work-related stress can be a particular challenge, sometimes leading to frustration, demotivation, reduction in quality of life and sometimes even burnout. Evidence-based stress-management strategies may be of support in these kinds of situations, also for healthcare providers.

The Department of Digital Health Research has developed a user oriented, evidence-based digital stress management program called StressProffen©™. Initially, StressProffen was developed and tested for stress management in cancer survivors. StressProffen is however based on general, well-recognized cognitive behavioral stress-management strategies and can likely be of benefit for anyone experiencing stress in some form or other, including healthcare providers. The aim of this project is to examine health care providers’ experiences with, and the effect of, StressProffen. Health care providers will complete pre- and post-study outcome measures, attend one in-person introduction session, and will be given access to the 10 app-based StressProffen modules. Participants may also be invited to participate in individual interviews after the study to examine experiences of using StressProffen.
